Creative Director
Prior to joining FAO Schwarz as Creative Director in February 2007, Max was an art director for 14 years with the D. E. Shaw group, where he founded the Marketing Communications department. His work as a designer includes the 100% Colombian Coffee logo, the Juno.com branding system and user interface, and FAO Schwarz’s own 2004 re-branding. In addition, he’s the cofounder and art director of Hard Case Crime, a pulp revival paperback imprint, for which he wrote the Shamus Award-winning crime novel Fade to Blonde.
Max received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa.
